Global Audit Manager



Katerina is a Global Audit Manager for HEINEKEN International covering Africa Middle East & Eastern Europe Region. For the past seven years, she has managed, supervised and/or executed approximately 80 operational audits covering multiple business lines in 30 countries mainly across Europe and Africa. In addition, she is also involved in conducting fraud investigations associated with Senior Management involvement.

Before joining HEINEKEN, she worked for five years in increasingly senior roles as external auditor for KPMG - mainly focussed on clients in real estate and online gaming industry. Katerina holds a Master’s degree in Management & Law. She is an Austrian professional who has lived in six different countries and is currently based in Amsterdam.

(ROOM N101) C.S 4.1. Internal Audit's role in HEINEKEN's whistleblowing framework

In this session we will share insights about Internal Audit’s role in HEINEKEN’s Whistleblowing framework, which was ranked #3 by Transparency International Nederland in 2017.

The first part of the presentation shall focus on explaining the embedded Whistleblowing framework at HEINEKEN called “Speak Up!”. In particular, we will share:

i) key elements of the Speak Up! Policy.

ii) the tool used for reporting (i.e. EthicsPoint).

iii) internal communication campaigns.

iv) overview on actual use of Speak Up! in 2017.

In the second part of the presentation, we will share more details about the role and involvement of Internal Audit in HEINEKEN’s whistleblowing framework. Amongst others, we will talk about:

i) the Speak Up! Procedure ii) approach to investigations.

iii) why internal audit should be involved in whistleblowing frameworks.
