(AUDITORIUM) Plenary Session 4: Making business in a Digital World

Have the basic principles of business really changed?

Digitalisation and technological disruption are at the top of the agenda for many businesses and sectors across the globe more and more every day. They are opening up manifold opportunities and at the same time are throwing up multiple challenges.

Making business is becoming more and more challenging and complex due to the constant needs to innovate, implement transformative technologies, ensure customers are offered personalised experiences, etc., to keep up with the constantly changing markets. Let´s not forget all these must be considered with the additional yet top prioritized objective of reducing cost.

If those are not enough, let´s add the challenges of ensuring compliance with local and general laws and regulations, including those that are sector-specific. The “fast steps” of technological progress are transforming and challenging every sector forcing businesses to rethink their business models.

As CEO of Santander Group, José Antonio Alvarez will talk about how all these factors are impacting in the way of making businesses in all sectors and business natures. He will also share how this is affecting the financial sector and the Santander Group´s way of adapting to change.
